Anatomy scan and Dr visit

Well I think this was our longest visit yet. We were at the office for just under 2 hours.
The ultrasound tech scanned all the babies and measured arms and legs. She checked hearts, kidneys, bellies, brains. They were all great weighing 5oz each! She also double checked the genders and they were correct. Here are their money shots!

Dr. Jamie came in and checked the length of my cervix and the polyp very gently. She said she would not disturb it but it could cause more bleeding later.
She said babies and I were doing great and recommended I get a belly support band and a body pillow which Kyle was trying to demonstrate.

We got some cute baby profiles!

When we left the scheduler told us we took up 7 appointment time slots, I found that entertaining. We go back on the 19th.

16 weeks

16 Weeks 0 Days

How far along: 16 weeks 0 days
Baby's size: avocado, four and a half  inches long weighing about 3.5 oz.
Baby's Development: The baby's legs are much more developed now. Listen up: Tiny bones in their ears are in place this week, making it likely that the baby can hear my voice when I'm speaking. In fact, studies have found that babies who are sung to while they're in the womb recognize the same tune when it's sung to them after they are born.
And baby's busily boning up in other ways. For one, the backbone (along with the back muscles) is stronger now — strong enough, in fact, to enable your baby to work on straightening his or her head and neck. This little one's a looker — with a face that has both eyebrows and eyelashes — but a skinny looker since there's no baby fat yet.
Gender: It has been confirmed, (2) girls and (1) boy.  We do have names but have not shared them yet.
Weight gain: 15lbs

Maternity clothes: Yes, there is no goin back now!
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring on or off: On
Sleep: So tired! I have not been very comfortable recently. I toss and turn.
Symptoms: My rear is still sore, I have a hairy belly and some breakouts in weird places. But overall I feel good.
Food cravings: I am really enjoying some ice cream sandwiches right now.
Food aversions: I may have burned myself out on cereal, at least honey bunches of oats.
What I miss: Cleaning when I want and organizing. If like to get the bedrooms taken care of.
Movement: Still having the rolling feeling occasionally and then there is some pressure.
Mood:  Fine still, thank goodness I am good at holding my tongue.
Best moment this week: We had a great time Saturday at the track and again on Sunday with family. It was Andrue's 1st communion. We also celebrated our 5th anniversary by registering at babysrus for the babies. It wasn't as fun as we imagined but we got it done. Oh and I picked some bedding but it is online so I'll have to add that to the shower invites. You can see it at carousel designs.
Looking forward to: My doctor appointment with Dr. Jamie tomorrow.

15 Weeks 0 Days

How far along: 15 weeks 0 days
Baby's size: Apple, almost four inches long weighing about 2.5 oz.
Baby's Development: The babies are busy moving amniotic fluid through their nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in their lungs develop.  Legs are growing longer than arms now and they can move all of their joints and limbs.  Although the eyelids are still fused shut, they can sense light.  Not much for the babies to taste but they are forming taste buds.
Gender: It has been confirmed, (2) girls and (1) boy.  We do have names but have not shared them yet.
Weight gain: 12lbs ( no change )

Maternity clothes: Yes, I am wearing a regular shirt today and if it wasn't stretchy it would not have made it over my bump.
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring on or off: On
Sleep: I am sleeping pretty terrible right now.  I get up to pee at least once and I can not breath so I am snoring.  I have a common pregnancy symptom which has a name, "rhinitis of pregnancy".  It is the increased blood flow coupled with swollen sinus membranes.
Symptoms: Headaches aren't as bad this week.  I suppose you can call my cervical polyp a side effect.  My mouth now has raw spots where my gums are sensitive.  Oh, the ultrasound tech was also able to show me that the babies (all 3) were pushing into my bladder on Saturday.  Weird looking but she told me I better go before they push harder and I wet myself. lol
Food cravings: I had cottage cheese with tomatoes and Italian dressing last night as a snack, YUM!  I'm excited about sushi tonight too.
Food aversions: I get burned out quick so this one is ever changing, this week cheeseburgers and bananas.
What I miss: Really would like a glass of wine for some reason.  I would also like to be able to clean as I choose instead of deciding if I have had enough or more than enough activity for the day and letting that dictate turning a blind eye to the filth in my kitchen.
Movement: Still having the rolling feeling occasionally and then there is some pressure.  I have to check where my pants hit when I have the pressure feeling because I think it may be the pants but they aren't laying there.
Mood:  Fine still, thank goodness I am good at holding my tongue.
Best moment this week: We found out the genders for sure which is awesome although I feel like I already knew.  That is what I guessed from the beginning.  I also have all the shower dates on the calendar.  I will be at a shower every Saturday of June.  It will be a fun month :)
Looking forward to: My doctor appointment with Dr. Jamie next week.  I want to see the babies again and I want to hear what she has to say about the polyp.

A little scare

Well after doing some shopping on Friday for derby then walking around downtown for Katie's muscle competition I was wore out. I had a three hour nap. So when Kyle got home we decided we would go back downtown to see Katie's 3rd place win. We headed from the garage to Champions where Jeremy and Katie's dad were waiting. I sat down in the stool then decided I should potty and wash my hands. When I stood up I felt something wet and got worried. Sure enough when I went to the restroom it was bright red blood. We immediately left and headed for home.  I was instantly terrified and it took me a little bit to get back to the calm thought process and decided to call the dr.
Dr. How said I could go home and get off my feet or I could go to downtown norton and get checked out. I told her we would go back downtown, we were at Preston Hwy by then. She called ahead and told them I was coming, she also told me she thought that was the right thing to do. Now why didn't she just tell me that from the get go?
We arrived at Norton ER, Kyle dropped me off then went to park the car. They had me upstairs before Kyle could find me.
They checked my cervix, checked for contractions, checked my urine, found all three babies on the Doppler. Everything was fine. Next the dr did a pelvic exam which he ended with saying he thought he knew where the blood was coming from... Awesome. He said I had a polyp on my cervix. He was sending us to ultrasound to make sure the babies and placenta were all good.
Meanwhile my mom and dad arrived but only one person could be with me so mom and Kyle were playing musical chairs.
Kyle went to ultrasound with me. A very nice woman, Debbie, did our ultrasound and was excited about it. All three babies were just fine, heartbeats were all good, so was the placenta. She asked if we knew the genders to which we said they made a guess. She said oh I'm sure, you have 2 girls and 1 boy. There is also a picture of our boy and his proud "junk"!
That little white hand in the middle is pointing to Baby C's "junk".  Don't be distracted by Baby B's head/body in the picture.

So, after the ultrasound they let me get dressed and gave my discharge paperwork. They told me to take it easy, no shopping or walking over the weekend. I am supposed to rest.
Let me tell you, I have never felt so relieved in my life. It makes me nervous that this could happen again but thank God it was a minor issue and we are all fine.

14 Weeks

How far along: 14 weeks 0 days
Baby's size: Nectarine, almost three 1/2 inches long weighing about 1.5 oz.
Baby's Development: The babies can now squint, frown, grimace, pee and suck their thumb. (we have proof of that one on ultrasound)  Kidneys are producing urine, which is now being released into the amniotic fluid.  Babies can grasp things too.  Babies are developing that fine hair on their bodies, even on their head.  The liver and spleen should be functioning this week.
Weight gain: 12lbs

Maternity clothes: Yes, all maternity now. I need to find a Derby outfit now, at least there were some cute options at motherhood maternity.
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring on or off: On
Sleep: I find myself wanting a nap around 3, so by the time I get home I am wore out.  I am trying to be selective about my activity.  I am also having issues with my sinuses and feeling like they are swollen during the night.
Symptoms: Headaches are #1 now, the dr said that was hormone related.  I have them pretty often at this point but for the most part, nothing I can't handle.  Acne is another one that just won't clear up all the way, I read that is caused by having girls?  It said their female hormones add to your own. (who knows if that is true) Other than that I have a swelling belly along with other parts of my body.
Food cravings: Nothing overwhelming really.  Maybe McDonald cheeseburgers which I have been known to get for snack in the afternoon.
Food aversions: This could be anything depending on the day.  I still have lots of things that just don't sound good and other food that is just disappointing.  I would still say water is one of those but I keep drinking it...  I will be so excited to drink any liquid that I want.
What I miss: Still drinks, not even just alcohol drinks but regular everyday drinks.  I used to enjoy getting a big tea from McAllister's but they don't have decaf so that is out.
Movement: Just the little fluttering/flipping feelings.  Sometimes they are pretty strong but it is always fast and I wait for another one which doesn't come.
Mood:  Fine I guess.  I have a lot going on with Derby, Seminar and baby stuff so I am trying to take it one task at a time.  So if you happen to ask me about something and I seem short or confused well, that is why.
Best moment this week: Kyle is getting more and more into this baby thing.  He is getting excited and starting to plan which I find so sweet.  He has been so kind and patient with me and gone out of his way to make sure I have whatever it is my heart desires. It just warms my heart.
A second moment was hearing that my dear "niece" Madison has made a decision to join the Air Force Reserves and they will pay for her nursing degree.  On top of that, she is bringing home all A's and B's.  I am so proud of her!
Looking forward to: Probably Easter, it is a time to spend with family and lots of good food which is awesome for me! :)

4-9 MFM appt

Today Kyle and I went to the MFM dr for our second visit. First they did my measure and stats. Everything looked good. Blood pressure was 122/75.
Baby A was was awake and moving. Heart rate 145.
Baby B was awake and wiggly. She had to scan it twice to get the heart rate but it was 154.

Baby C was asleep at first but quickly wanted to be seen and seemed annoyed that she was looking at him. His heart 157.

I had to ask Kyle about the stats because in the middle of the scan she said well if I had to guess right now I would say they are boys. Well she was just saying that but afterward I couldn't think of anything else.
She did the Nuchal translucency test on each with C being most difficult. They were all good. That tests for chromosome issues.
Then she looked at each genetalia and made her guess. She said she thinks C is a boy. A & B are girls. She did say it was an early guess and they would check again next time. 💙💗💗
Here are some more pictures they took.

That is a hand
This is the baby looking right at the camera.
Profile shot.

We also got our triplet stroller! I found it on one of those FB yard sale sites for $100! Kyle put it together and took it down to Mandy's to show it off.
This is just the frame. The car seats click into the bars in stadium style. How cute is he pushing it down the street?

13 Weeks

How far along: 13 weeks 0 days
Baby's size: Peach, almost three inches long weighing about 1 oz.
Baby's Development: Tiny bones are beginning to form in their arms and legs.  The vocal cords are well under construction and they may be sucking their thumbs at this point. On top of each baby weighing about an ounce, the placenta also weighs around an ounce each and will weigh a total of 3-6lbs total by the time they are born.  If the babies are girls they already have 2 million eggs in their ovaries and gender has developed.  We may or may not be able to tell what they are at this point.
Weight gain: 10lbs, still behind. I should have gained 13.5 by now.

Maternity clothes: Yes, all maternity now.  I cleaned out my closets and found a few more maternity pants which is awesome!
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring on or off: On
Sleep: I am not as tired as the first 12 weeks but I still need sleep.  Last night's ball game kept me up way past my bedtime.
Symptoms: Geographic tongue is better but still there. Heartburn is ramping up, I am eating about 4 tums a day right now.  I have had some stretching type feelings in my belly.
Food cravings: Sugar, this week I have just wanted sugar but then it leaves that coating on my teeth and I'm sorry I ate it.  I also enjoy raw veggies, like carrots.  Hopefully they will balance each other out.
Food aversions: This could be anything depending on the day.  I have a craving for something like steak but then when I'm eating it I am disappointed.  Nothing tastes as good as I want it to.  I am also pretty tired of water at this point.  I don't really know what else to drink so I end up drinking water at restaurants to stay away from sugar and from caffeine.
What I miss: Dt. Mountain Dew!  I didn't realize how easy it was loving one drink.  I knew where to buy it and always had it there.  My boss stocks caffeine free Dt. Mt Dew in his fridge at work which isn't so bad and makes for a good treat.  I also found out that Burger King has one of those soda machines where you have an option of 200 different drinks, including caffeine free dt. coke.  Not as good as the real thing but at this point I'll take it!
Movement: Still having flutters that feel like a baby flipping over but nothing solid yet.
Mood:  I feel more normal these days, less agitated and more patient.
Best moment this week: I worked incredibly hard to clean out my closet and move it to the other bedroom.  I got rid of 5 bags of old clothes, costumes, shoes and junk that I had stored in the other closet.  I also moved my "special event" dresses downstairs to a mobile hanging thing.  So now we have a baby closet!  It isn't as large as it probably should be but it will have to do.  We will definitely need a dresser to store more stuff but we have a place to organize what we have.  I also bought a large mason jar (really cute) to store the pacifiers and sample butt cream I have already collected.

Looking forward to: Tomorrow!  We have an appointment with Dr. Jamie and I will get to see the kids.  I don't think Kyle is going to make this one and I promised if they can tell gender that I would have them put it in an envelope and we would open it together.
I'm also looking forward to moving the dressers out of the "to be" baby room.  Progress!
Side Note:  We received the bill for anastisiologist during the Egg Retrieval, ugh!  $990 :(

12 Weeks!!!

How far along: 12 weeks 0 days
Baby's size: Passion Fruit, almost three inches long weighing about .49 oz.
Baby's Development: The babies are now practicing grasping, sucking and even hiccups.  They can now feel when I put my hand on my belly and even wiggle or kick back although I can't feel it yet.
Weight gain: 8 lbs.  No change this week, I guess that was a failure since I was supposed to gain 1lb a week in the first trimester.  I'm sure I will catch up.
Maternity clothes: Yes, mom and I went shopping last week for more maternity clothes.  They are so darn comfortable, why can't regular clothes feel like these?  Next is finding a Derby dress, there were a few at Motherhood that I will go back and try on in a week or so.
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring on or off: On
Sleep: I flip and flop a lot and I have to get up and pee at some time during the night.  This morning it was before the alarm went off at about 5:50 so I just got up and started getting ready.
Symptoms: Geographic tongue is better now.  I am feeling more heartburn at random times during the day.  My rear is still very sore quickly in chairs.  I suppose it is from all the extra blood flow down there but it just aches.
Food cravings: Pickles, they are just so delicious for snack and they are a vegetable, right?
Food aversions: Protein bars.  I purchased some protein bars after tasting the ensure and disliking it.  The protein bars I bought had 20 grams which is a lot but they taste like saw dust.  Ick!
What I miss: Carrying groceries by the load.  I went to the grocery yesterday but I was a good girl and only carried two bags at a time which meant I made a lot of trips back to the car.
Movement: I have flutters that may or may not be them moving, they say with multiples that you can feel them a lot sooner.  I will be glad when I can so my mind will be put at ease on a daily basis.
Mood:  I have gained a little patience back this week.  I was able to relax and help Kyle put his inversion table together last night.
Best moment this week: 12 week milestone of course!  Today is a really important day for us and we made it here with no real issues.  Keep the prayers coming because we still need them to make it to 35 weeks which is September 9th for those that are wondering.  Something tells me we won't make it there, I'm thinking more like 32 weeks which is August 19th.
Looking forward to: Our next appointment with Dr. Jamie.  I am so grateful that we have had ultrasounds every two weeks thus far.  I'm not sure I would have truly believed we were having three babies if I hadn't been able to see them so often and hear all three heartbeats.  There is something good about being high risk! :)
